Office 2010: Prices are defined

The publishing of the new 2010 Office pack is a known fact by now. Microsoft confirms over 2 million downloads of the beta-version already- which is about 40.000 downloads per day. . The finale version of Office 2010 will be on the market in June. The price depends on the edition and features, it is between 99 and 499 $. The European price is not known yet.

Office 2010 should be available in four different editions. With the purchase of each edition you have the choice between the normal sale version and a product key. This key can unlock an online-sustaining program. In the latter version, extras like packages or a user manual are missing, but it is considerably cheaper.

The edition “Home and Student” includes Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote. The normal package costs $149 and as OEM-version $119. The version “Home and Business” includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and Outlook. You can buy it for $279 or $199 respectively. “Office 2010 Professional” includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher and Access; it costs $499 or $349 respectively. “Professional Academic” contains the same programs; it is the cheapest edition with $99. It is only available for academic institutions.
