Basic PowerPoint Tutorial: How to Edit 3D Objects

In this tutorial, you will learn about working with 3D objects in Microsoft PowerPoint:

How to rotate 3D objects

  1. Right-click on the object
  2. Select “Format Shape“ from the menu
  3. Choose “3-D Rotation“. You are now able to rotate the object using “Presets,” or you can rotate it in any direction with the “X, Y and Z” buttons

How to color 3D objects

  1. Right-click on the object
  2. Select “Format Shape“ from the menu
  3. Choose “Solid fill“. Then click on the “Color Button”. Now choose the color you want from the “Color Palette”

How to give 3D objects a gradient fill

  1. Right-click on the object that you want to fill with a gradient
  2. Select “Format Shape“
  3. Choose “Fill” and then “Gradient fill“. Now you are able to define different types of gradient fill

How to fill 3D objects with an image

  1. Right-click on the object that you want to fill with a picture
  2. Select “Format Shape“
  3. Choose “Fill” and then “Picture or texture fill“. Next, click on the button “Insert from File“. In the appearing window you can now select your image and transfer it with “Insert“

How to add a shadow to a 3D object

  1. Right-click on the object you want to add a shadow to
  2. Select “Format Shape“
  3. Choose “Shadow“. Now you can add a shadow either via presets or manually with the other fields

How to add a text to a 3D object

  1. Right-click on the object
  2. Select “Edit Text“
  3. Now you can write a text directly into the 3D-Object

  1. Right-click on the object
  2. Click on “Format Shape“
  3. The buttons “material” and “light” appear in the preset options. Choose one of the presets to change the surface or lighting of the object
