Presentation Watch #3

A new year has begun and we want to start off by giving you some news about PowerPoint 2016 as well as tips to bring into the new year and lessons from last year.

– The 2015 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant was likely to rank among the largest TV fails of last year. Host Steve Harvey accidentally announced Miss Colombia as the winner, when in fact it was Miss Philippines who won. Harvey was visibly embarrassed by his error and upon realizing his mistake, he returned onstage to correct his words. How do you react when you make a big mistake in a presentation? Language teacher Alan Hoffler recommends a simple formula of behavior.

– The New Year brings new opportunities and challenges. Robin Madell summarized ten resolutions that could positively contribute to your career. Among them are efficient time management, healthy work-life balance and the right surfing behavior on the Internet as well as behavior towards colleagues.
– The Canadian company FreshBooks sends its employees on blind dates. It is, however, not a romantic meeting by candlelight, but about bringing employees together from different departments. Colleagues tend to get to know each other better over coffee and cake. More on FreshBooks and its blind dates can be found here.
